Warriors Keep Rolling

The end of the season is a couple weeks away, and as other teams are jockeying for better positions in the playoffs, the Warriors have solidified their position as the top team in the league. With a 4 point weekend, the Warriors have clinched first place in the east and the best record overall.

On Friday, the Warriors headed up the 115 to take on the Peterborough Lakers. As has been the case all season, the Warriors took over in the second period, and took the victory by a score of 16-9. Matt Andersson was the top goal scorer, grabbing 5 goals in the win, while Matt Shand put up a game-high 9 points (4G, 5A) in the win. Matt Cornish and Connor Platt each had 2 goals and 2 assists. Defenseman John Wheller added another 2 points (1G, 1A) to his total, putting him at 12 points on the season.  Devin Gilligan (4A), Julian Mosier (3A), and Adam Smellie (3A) all moved the ball well in the win. Zack Hubbard was solid in net while also picking up 2 assists. The full boxscore can be found here.

On Saturday night, the Warriors travelled to Huntsville for the last bout against the Hawks. The Warriors grabbed a 20-7 win over the Hawks. Gilligan was a force to be reckoned with, grabbing 8 points in the win (4G, 4A). Shand added another 7 points (1G, 6A), while Mike Andersson tallied 3 goals and 4 assists. Dave Cormack added 5 assists as well. Julian Mosier got his first junior hattrick of his career, and Connor Platt added a hattrick as well. Coming off injury, Wyatt Craik grabbed 5 points (1G, 4A). Ben Macdonnell was able to added a goal and an assist. Midget Call-Up Zach Pipher hit the gamesheet as well, grabbing his first junior goal. Adam Allman added an assist to go along with his strong night between the pipes. The full boxscore can be found here.

The Warriors have one game on the docket this week, at Clarington on Sunday.
