Warriors end season on high note

The Warriors played the remaining 3 games of their regular season schedule this past weekend.

On Friday, the Warriors traveled north to take on the Huntsville Hawks. It was a slow start for Whitby, as the Hawks got out to a 6-0 start in the first period. The Warriors were unable to complete the comeback, falling 10-7. Matt Cornish added 3 goals in the loss, while Connor Curtis grabbed 1 goal and 3 assists. The full boxscore can be found here.

On Saturday, the Warriors hosted the South Shore Centurions. The Warriors would break open the game in the second period, with a 7-1 difference. The Warriors would cruise to a 17-6 victory, and grab revenge on the Centurions and the previous OT loss in Quebec. Ty Taylor put up 8 points (6g, 2a) in the victory, while Max McPherson added 3 goals and 4 assists. Erik Andersson and Curtis both added 5 assists each in the win. On Sunday, the Warriors hosted the North Shore Kodiaks for the final game of Whitby’s season. With North Shore currently sitting in first place, the Warriors were looking to send a message to the league. It was a tight game the entire way through, but the Warriors were able to edge the Kodiaks with an 8-6 win. Taylor added another 5 points (2g, 3a) in the win and finished the season as the Warriors top point scorer. Cornish added 4 points (1g, 3a) and McPherson added a goal and 2 assists as well. Adam Smellie added 2 goals in transition. Craig Johannson made some critical saves all weekend to keep the Warriors in each game. The full boxscore can be found here.

The Warriors are awaiting the end of the OJCLL regular season to determine their playoff schedule. Stay tuned here and on Twitter for the release of the first round schedule.
