2015 Season All Set To Go

The 2015 Whitby Warriors Junior C lacrosse club have all dates set.  Tryouts are set for late April, the regular season starts in early May and runs to the end of June.

The Kingston Kings have deferred operations for the 2015 season causing a bit of a shuffle in scheduling for the remaining teams.  With that the Warriors will face some teams in the Western division this coming season.  They will travel to Halton Hills for one game and will host both Wilmot and Oakville.  The Oakville home game will cap off a day of games known as the “Highway of Heroes” between the Oakville and Whitby minor lacrosse organizations.

The Warriors also hope to play an outdoor game this season once again.  Fittingly that game is hoped to be held against Durham rivals the Clarington Shamrox.

The Warriors lost a great Coach and have hopefully inherited another.  After two seasons with the team John Phillips has taken on a role Coaching back in Whitby Minor Lacrosse with his son Wes.  Wes has had to cut his playing days short due to concussions he has experienced in the course of playing.  On behalf of all associated with the team, the Warriors thank both and John and Wes for their commitment to the team.  John brought far more than Coaching to the group and anyone that knows him will know that.

Stepping in to take on a Coaching role with the Warriors is Kevin Taylor.  Kevin is a former Green Gael, Brooklin Redmen and Merchant player.  Kevin most recently coached in the Oshawa Minor Lacrosse organization.  The team and staff are excited to work with Kevin this season.  Back are Coaches Gary Mark and Danny Lafontatine.  Joining the staff this season as well is former Warrior Paul Gilligan.
