Warriors vs. Shamrox Could Be Quite The Series

It was only three days ago that the Whitby Warriors Junior C Lacrosse Club was successful in game five of their 2nd round matchup against the Peterborough Lakers.  The Warriors came out flying in the “do or die” game and sent the Lakers home, defeating them 9-4.  That was the easy part!

Next up, the undefeated and two time defending Meredith Cup Champions, the Clarington Shamrox.

Game 1 was Tuesday July 31 at the Garnet Rickard Complex in Bowmanville.  With some very undisciplined play early in the game, the Warriors dug themselves a big hole trailing at one point 5-1 in the first period.   But as they have done quite a few times this season and in particular these playoffs, they battled back to make a game of it.

Entering the third period trailing 8-5, the Warriors would shut down the high powered offence of Clarington and score 4 goals of their own, taking game 1 by a 9-8 score.  The loss was the first this season for the Shamrox and only their second one in the last two seasons.

Game 2 will be played at McKinney Arena in Whitby on Thursday August 2nd.  Game time is 8pm.
